Vinnie joined the Kingston Ponies in 1929 in the old County league before moving on to play for Kingston's entry in the Central League which won the 1935 Ontario Baseball Association championship.
In one season of amateur ball Vinnie won the batting title with .462 average.
At the age of 34 he joined the Class C Kingston Ponies as an outfielder in the professional Border Baseball League from 1946 to 1948, and hit .300 in his first season and .329 the next year.
A Kingston police officer during his playing career Vinnie was a fan favourite at home games at Megaffin Stadium but rarely away games.
After retiring from playing he was involved in minor baseball locally as an organizer and coach up to his mid 70s.
A lover of baseball all his life, Vinnie could be seen watching games at Megaffin Park up until his death in 1994 after sneaking away from a nearby retirement home.
